What is the best way to transfer data between 2 computers?

Q. Is it possible to transfer data with just a RJ-45 cable, or do I need to get an expensive USB data transfer cable? I have done it with a wireless network in the past, but it is extremely slow. It took about 24 hours to transfer 15 gigs. What should I do?

A. The best way to do this is using a Crossover Ethernet cable. You can plug one end of this onto the network port on one computer, and the other end into the network port on the second computer. This connects the two directly with speeds up to 1gbps (approx. 20 times faster than standard 54mbps wireless)

You will need to set up a shared folder, though, and make sure the wireless connection is DISABLED, as the wireless will automatically override the wired connection :)

How do I transfer data directly between computers?
Q. I have a desktop, and laptop I wish to transfer data between. I can do this over the internet, but I know that a direct connection would be fastest. How do I do this?

Burning a disc might work, also using a jump drive, but I'd rather a transfer cable, that will work in ALL situations.

A. Try either a USB Data Transfer cable or
An Ethernet crossover cable.

Q. Can I transfer data between two Xbox 360 hard drives? I have two hard drives, plenty of space on both of them, and downloaded games on both of them. I would like to use only one hard drive for my downloaded games from Xbox Live. Is this possible?

A. Here's what you do:

1) Buy a transfer cable. (10-25$)
2) Start one system, with a hard drive attached.
3) Connect one end of the cable to the hard drive in the system, attach the other end to your secondary hard drive.
4) Go into the menu on your dashboard, and there should be an option to transfer data.

Also, you don't need to have both hard drives attached to a system and powered on.. Just the one.

I recently had this same problem, bought the cable, used it, and then returned it. :P

How to transfer data that is greater than 4gigs to an external hard drive?
Q. I have a NTFS windows XP system and when I try to transfer data to my external hard drive that is greater than 4 gig I get a message stating there is not enough free disk space. The hard drive has 500gigs and I know I have at least 300gigs free. Does anyone know how to transfer the data without any problems?
I still have over 150gigs of free space in my internal hard drive and my external hard drive is NTFS also.

A. Try transferring it using a firewire cable and not the USB one.

Can I transfer data between two Xbox 360 hard drives?

How to transfer data from my laptop to my home computer?
Q. My laptop has Vista, my home computer has xp. So how to transfer data from one to another?

A. Several ways.

You could use a USB bridge cable to directly connect the two computers and transfer files the way you move them around between folders.

You could use a USB flash drive if the files aren't that big.

You could use a portable hard drive if you have a lot of large files.

You could burn them onto a CD using your laptop and copy them from the CD using your home computer.

Is being able to transfer data to another smartphone by them simply touching a feature you really want?
Q. So now 2 android smartphones can transfer data like playlists to each other by them simply touching. Is that a feature you really want in a smartphone? I don't like the idea of such an easy transfer of data. I am thinking data you don't want in there could get transferred.

How can I transfer data from a Blackberry Storm to an iPhone?
Q. I have a need to transfer data from a Blackberry Storm to an iPhone, with this base information, is it possible to do this transfer without too much difficulty.

A. It works!
You can transfer the BB contents to PC or Mac, whatever you use and then sync those to iPhone. Or alternatively, you can also use an iPhone data transfer, that shall definitely help you with that.

How do you transfer data from a laptop to a desktop?
Q. I am using Windows XP as my operating system, plan to purchase a laptop, but Vista is now the current operating systems in new laptops. Can I transfer data using the usb 2 port between the computers. I could not locate any information on Windows XP help, I find their help usually is not much help at all.

A. Go to Worldstart.com Then click on the Software Store,(top left of the page). In this screen, on the lefthand side you'll see Cool Gadgets, click. Then on this screen scroll down until you see Direct LinQ USB 1x Data Transfer Cable, click. Costs 9.95,(believe free shipping), and it works great! We change computers about every six months, and this saves tremendous hours! Don't be fooled by the price, their quality is excellent!

Can I transfer data between two Xbox 360 hard drives?
